6.NS.1. Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving division of fractions by fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem.


6.NS.2. Fluently divide multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm.

Objective: 

I will create a visual model to represent division problems to make sense of long division algorithm.

Agenda: 
1. Think Now: (10 min) 
    - Intro. to division of fractions representation: 
       5-9 & 5-18 & (10 minutes)     

       6.1.1:       I must show: 

  • A diagram or diagrams showing how the licorice was divided.
  • A division number sentence representing the problem.
  • Words that explain what portion of licorice each person gets and why.
