Periods 1, 3 & 5 Science

Objective:
I will create Punnett squares to model cause-and-effect relationships in sexual reproduction and to predict possible genetic combinations in offspring.

Standards

MS-LS3-2: Develop and use a model to describe why asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.

Do Now
1. EduCanon

2.Complete: Predicting Genetic Outcomes
   - Stemscopes: Activity: Do 3 Activity

3. Bikini Bottom Genetics

3. Extension Activity: Reading Science A

Periods 1, 3 & 5 Science

Objective:
I will use a model to collect data about spawning behavior in fish that may have more than one cause, and determine that probability can be used to describe some cause and effect relationships.

I will describe how animals behaviors and plant features increase the odds of reproduction.

Standards

MS-LS1-4. Use argument based on empirical evidence and scientific reasoning to support an explanation for how characteristic animal behaviors and specialized plant structures affect the probability of successful reproduction of animals and plants respectively.

Do Now
1. EduCanon:

2. COMPLETE StemScopes: Which behavior has more success? Activity

2. Achieve3000:  The Return of the Sturgeon

3. ZingyLearning: Unit 20: Lesson 2:
    Plant & Animal Relationships
