Periods 1, 3 & 5  Science Class (Math)

Standard(s):

6.EE.2a. Write expressions that record operations with numbers and with letters standing for numbers. For example, express the calculation “Subtract y from 5” as 5 – y.

6.EE.6. Use variables to represent numbers and write expressions when solving a real-world or mathematical problem; understand that a variable can represent an unknown number, or, depending on the purpose at hand, any number in a specified set.


Objective: 

I will generate and compare equivalent expressions. 

Agenda: 

1. Think Now: (10 min) & Annotate the objective


2. CPM: Chapter 4.1.2

            Problems:  4-12   (12 minutes)
                                4-13   (10 minutes)
                                Work on IXL: 
                                      
  1.             Y.1 Write variable expressions
  2.          report Y.2 Write variable expressions: word problems
  3.  report Y.3 Evaluate variable expressions with whole numbers

3. Science Homework: Complete missing homework

Without talking, writing or counting every single tile one-by-one, develop a strategy to count the total tile.
