Standards
LS1.A: Structure and Function: In multicellular organisms, the body is a system of multiple interacting subsystems. These subsystems are groups of cells that work together to form tissues and organs that are specialized for particular body functions. (MS-LS1-3)

Objective: 

Today I will gather and evaluate more evidence about how bacteria that is transferred during a fecal transplant can help cure an infected patient.

By the end of the lesson I will explain how:

  • B. fragilis bacteria produce immune cells that can kill invading harmful bacteria.
  • L. reuteri bacteria produce mucus that can line the gut and protect it from harmful bacteria.
  • A scientific argument is convincing when it includes evidence that strongly supports the claim.

Agenda:
