Periods 2 & 4  Math
Standards: 

6.Geometry.1: Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Math Practice: Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.


Objective: 

I will compare the relationships between perimeter and area and experiment with changing area while keeping perimeter the same.


Agenda:
1. Think Now: Number Talk (5 min)

2. CPM Lesson 1.1.2
     Problems:
                     1-6   (4 min.) 
                     1-7   (15 min.) 
                     1-11 part a, b & c (you do not      have to write the questions) 


3. Students will set up their CPM usernames & passwords. One group will use laptops to set up their accounts while the other group works on math practice.  

 Group A: CPM usernames & passwords setting up student accounts.


Group B: Math skills coloring pages




Homework: None

Announcements: Math homework will now be assigned on Tuesdays and due Wednesdays. (Starting next week)

Number Talk directions:   

1. Think about as many strategies to count the dots without counting them at a time. 

2. When you are done, place your thumb under your chin and wait quietly. 



3. The class will discuss the answers & strategies.
