Periods 2 & 4 Math
Standards6.G.1. Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Math Practice:  This lesson is focused on units of measure and thus is the foundation for attending to precision in measurement.

Objective:
I will use the standard unit of measure when finding the area of a figure.

will continue to develop an understanding of composing and decomposing area and begin to look at how this affects perimeter within the context of Base Ten Blocks.

Agenda:
1. Think Now: Number Talk (7 min)

2. CPM Lesson 2.2.2 & 2.2.3
     Problems:

                     2-31   (7 min.)
                    *2-32   (10 min.)
                           2-39    (15 min)

Homework: None
1. Take home CPM parent guides (New/absent students)

Think Now
  • If you are absent or new you need to take home the parent guides for extra practice and make up work.
  • Math Tutoring starts Thursday
  • Sharpened pencil
  • CPM textbooks turned to section 2.2.2
  • (2 per group)

Count the total number of dots.

Periods 1, 3 & 5  Science
Standards:
MS-PS-3-2
I can apply scientific principles to design, construct, and test a device that either minimizes or maximizes thermal energy transfer.

Objective:
I will use evidence from the text to explain how energy can be harnessed and transferred from one form to another.

Agenda:
1. Think Now: (5 min)

2. Review Daily Science Homework

3. Achieve3000: The Road to More Energy
   - Gist and Central Idea
   - Review the 5 step Literacy      Routine
   - Students will then login to Achieve3000 to complete the activity and thought question.

4. Finished Early? Go to Quizlet  to practice vocabulary.
