Standard(s):

6.EE.2a. Write expressions that record operations with numbers and with letters standing for numbers. For example, express the calculation “Subtract y from 5” as 5 – y.

6.EE.6. Use variables to represent numbers and write expressions when solving a real-world or mathematical problem; understand that a variable can represent an unknown number, or, depending on the purpose at hand, any number in a specified set.


Objective: 

I will use variables to write and evaluate algebraic expressions.  

Agenda: 

1. Think Now: (10 min) & Annotate the objective


2. CPM: Chapter 4.1.3

3. Science Homework: Science homework due WEDNESDAY!!

IXL problems due Friday

  1.             Y.1 Write variable expressions
  2.          report Y.2 Write variable expressions: word problems
  3.  report Y.3 Evaluate variable expressions with whole numbers

-Math workbooks turned to chapter 4!

-Facilitator and resource manager take out iPads, login to CPM and go to lesson 4.1.3
