Periods 2 & 4 Math |
Standard(s):
6.EE.3. Apply the properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions. For example, apply the distributive property to the expression 3 (2 + x) to produce the equivalent expression 6 + 3x; apply the distributive property to the expression 24x + 18y to produce the equivalent expression 6 (4x + 3y); apply properties of operations to y + y + y to produce the equivalent expression 3y.
Objective:
I will define greatest common factor (GCF) and use it to find the dimensions of generic rectangles.
Agenda:
1. Think Now: (10 min)
2. CPM: Chapter 2.3.3 Problems 2- 70 (8 minutes) 2- 71 2- 72 3. Exit Ticket (10 minutes) 4. Review Homework (15 minutes) |

- Tutoring after school on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 - Homework tomorrow You MUST show your work!!!! No exceptions! - Donations NEEDED: Boxes of tissue & Pencils - Chapter 2 Test Wednesday | - Pencil (no pens or mechanical pencils!!) | Look for errors in each problem. |
Notes: To use a generic rectangle to multiply you must decompose the factors into expanded form. For example 11 x 99 will now be 10 + 1 x 90 + 9. This represents the dimensions of a larger rectangle broken into smaller rectangles. After that, you multiply to find the partial products and then add them to find the total area.
