Periods 1, 3 & 5  Science Class (Math) Standard(s): Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of particles of matter. The relationship between the temperature and the total energy of a system depends on the types, states, and amounts of matter present. (MS-PS3-3),(MS-PS3-4)  Objective:  I will explain that:   - When a thing gets hotter, its molecules are moving faster and have more kinetic energy. - When a thing gets colder, its molecules are moving slower and have less kinetic energy. - Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the molecules of a thing.
